Phyllis Bersch​​​


Phyllis Bersch has been practicing law since 1979. For more than 20 years, she has specialized in the representation of high net worth and high income clients in family law matters involving complex issues of property characterization, apportionment, high earner and high standard of living child and spousal support, child custody, and interpretation and enforceability of premarital and marital agreements. Phyllis has represented legal and medical professionals, and business executives including numerous owners/members of some of the largest privately-held businesses in the United States and numerous principals in various private equity firms. She is known for her settlement-oriented approach toward family law matters and her commitment to mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution, but also for her strong advocacy skills in the courtroom.

Phyllis received her Bachelor’s Degree in 1976 from the University of California at Berkeley, and her law degree in 1979 from the UCLA School of Law. She began her career at Fine & Pope and Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger, with a focus on complex business litigation and securities litigation.  In 1998, Ms. Bersch transitioned her practice to family law litigation. She joined Wasser, Cooperman & Carter, PC, first as Of Counsel and then as a partner, where she focused exclusively on high wealth, high earner dissolution matters. She remained at Wasser, Cooperman & Carter until 2015, when she established her own practice and then co-founded Bersch Juarez LLP.

Rachel Juarez​​​


A Los Angeles native, Rachel Juarez is a graduate of Yale University and Stanford Law School. Following graduation from law school, Rachel joined Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP’s flagship Los Angeles office, as an associate. While at Quinn Emanuel, Rachel gained considerable experience in all aspects of complex civil litigation with a specific emphasis in trial work on large, high-profile matters.  In 2016, Rachel co-founded Bersch Juarez LLP, a family law practice specializing in the representation of high net-worth individuals.

As a partner at Bersch Juarez LLP, Rachel has managed a wide variety of family law matters from inception through post-judgment.  She has taken the lead role in multiple trials and multi-day live testimony evidentiary hearings involving issues of property characterization, apportionment, high earner and high standard of living child and spousal support, child custody, relocation of minor children (“move-away” cases) and domestic violence. Rachel also has assisted many of her clients in reaching successful outcomes through mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Rachel has been named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” each of the last seven years. She also is a graduate of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Trial Advocacy Project (“TAP”), making her eligible to serve as a volunteer prosecutor for prosecutorial agencies across the City of Los Angeles.
